Supervising the activities of the men students on campus are these two The responsibility of caring for the 7500 odd students around town gentlemen-Don MacKay and Robert Zumwinkle. Zumwinkle, director of belongs to Dean of Students Dr Jack Matthews Before taking on this student affairs for men, came here from Minnesota, where he did the job, Matthews was a professor of physical education at the University same kind of work, and MacKay, his assistant, is a Mizzou grad and former BMOC around campus. THE ADMINISTRATIVE ARM ot University policy in regard to its students can be tound on the second floor ot Read Hall. Here stand the ottices ot the Dean ot Students and the Directors ot Student Attairs tor Men and Women. General purpose ot the ottices and their inhabitants is advisory work in the tield ot student activities, but under this broad heading comes a long list ot specitic tunctions. NEXT FALL when New Student Week swings into operation and sometime in the tuture, when the Student Union opens its door, the student attairs ottice will be in the background coordinating activities and policy ot the two University programs. At the present time, the ottice plots and plans the programs tor the numerous resi- dence halls around the campus, and also takes a hand in arranging ott-campus housing. IF EVER any student organization or its otticers have a problem ot any sort, the student attairs ottice is ready to Iend whatever assistance it can, while an advisory position is also taken toward toreign students who might be 'Finding lite on the Mizzou campus slightly perplexing. The ottice gives the nod ot approval to all organizations seeking recognition, and also registers and approves the many social tunctions going on around campus. lt and when the occasion demands, the ottice is responsible tor rulings on student conduct, with a little blue University pamphlet as its guide. cl an of tud nt

Coming here in 1949 from Peabody College, she coordinates and directs all activities having to do with the fairer sex at Nlizzou. gd Assistants to Mrs. Buckner in the women's work are lVlrs. Mary Heaton and Nliss Barbara Beck. lVlrs. Heaton con- cerns herself with off-campus housing, interviewing transfer students, and counseling foreign coeds, while Barbara Beck dabbles in AWS work, Carousel plans, and Read Hall activities. cl an of tucl nt To guide struggling students through the maze of offices where the Deans of Students hold forth, there is a conveniently placed desk for information, which can tell you anything except what your name is.

THE BOSS TWEED . . . of lVlizzou is amhling SGA president Big TOIVI LACO, who built himself an all powerful machine out of the ACT party. Under his able leadership, SGA made good nearly all its campaign promises. The Hamburg, N. Y., boy is a member of Mystical Seven and an NROTC Scholar- ship student. An engaged man, the DU plans to go on Navy duty in June and wants overseas service, away from politics. tucl n Once a week or so, SGA counsil gets together and earnestly works to aid the students. The policy making organization sets the legislative wheels rolling to affect such student problems as negative hours, book pool, and exchange students.
