th university O 0 O O This University is not only an educational institution, it is also a million do business, financed by the taxpayers of the state, Leslie Cowan, the vice-press dent in charge of business operations, is the man charged with carefully watching where every penny of the cash goes. THE SOMBRE gentleman on the lett is president ot the Uni- versity of Missouri, Frederick A. Middlebush, the man official-ly charged with educating some 7500 students. The man who is sometimes lightly called Phantom Freddy has been with the University since I922, when he came here as a professor ot political science and public law atter earning a couple ot degrees at Michigan and teaching at Knox College. ln I925 he became dean ot B8rPA school and served at that post until i935 when he became president ot the Ole State U. Students otten comment that he is seldom seen around the campus, but this is understandable when you consider his con- tribution to education on a national scale. He has been elected to important positions in many nation-wide organizations con- cerned with college education. His list of activities and honors is enough to make Mizzou students realize that Missouri has a college president that they can well be proud ot. tivities.
