Donnelly, the chief executive of the State of Missouri, was born in Lebanon, Missouri, in 1891. He re- ceived his early education in the Missouri public schools, and graduated from St. Louis University in 1913. Governor Donnelly started his political career hy serving as prosecuting attorney for Laclede County. From this start he moved to the Missouri House of Representatives Where he served two years. In 1924 he entered the state senate and he remained there until his election to the governorship in 1944. Page 18
