Middlebush is a distinguished scholar and renowned traveler, by reputation. To ninety students, and Savitar's photographer, who came to a Read Hall Coffee Hour early in the year, Dr. Middlebush is a genial host, by experience. Dr. Middlebush informally discussed The Post War Plans of the University, sipped coffee in the Read Hall Friday afternoon manner, met the Navy, and later retired to the quiet dignity of his study. Middlebush the University of Missouri has been home since early 1926 when the University announced Dr. Middlebush's appointment as dean of the School of Business and Public Administration. In 1935, Dr. Middlebush was named president of the University, a post he has since held with distinction. Dr. Middlebush is a practical man, a quality that stood him in good stead during the War years. New buildings, library additions, an improved faculty, and increased financial grants from the state legis- lature attest to the success of his administration. Page 20

Arts and Science The College of Arts and Science, oldest of the nine divisions of the University and largest in point of numbers, provides the basic courses for entrance to the professional schools. The aims of the College are to furnish a liberal education and to aid the student in de- veloping an intellectual versatility. Frank F.
