The traditions of the University of Mis- souri are of the heart as well as of the head. The Missouri spirit was born in the shadow of the ivy-covered Columns, symbols of age and beauty, the connect- ing link between the past and the present. We of Missouri may well be proud of University of Missouri traditions. They are not descended from obscure incidents or trivial fancies. They revere the spirit of the pioneer; they sing of Old Missouri, Fair Missouri! the watchwords are Honor, Duty.
