In connection with this debates are held between the various Literary Societies on the Campus. Unusual interest was shown by the students this fall in inter-literary debates. A new plan was inaugurated this year whereby a try- out was held for all wishing to participate. In this way all were given a chance to compete. Forty-five students tried out for the four teams. In the first debate on the question Resolved that the United States should enter the World Court the Owls and S. A. U. M. were victorious, defeating the Eagles and the Gophers respectively. In the final debate the Owls and S. A. U. BI. debated the question Resolved that the United States should construct and maintain a six foot channel in the Mississippi River. The Owls won by a two to one decision and were the recipients of the Literary Union Trophy cup. Page Om' HIlI1lil'L'lf F0l'fj'-fUIlI'
