Johnson RIFLE CLUB The rifle range in Senior Hall is the scene of much activity throughout the school year. Preliminary tests for marksmanship are given to discover the sharp shooters, who are selected to take part in the bi-weekly matches. Valuable training and sport are acquired from partici- pating in this activity. DEBATE AND DECLAMATION Activities which offer opportunities for the development of ability to speak effectively are debate and declamation. The debate teams, coached by Mr. Prickett, will debate with teams from the Agricultural Schools at St. Paul amd Crookston, and the declamation team, coached by Mr. Long will compete with the Brookings Agricultural School.

THE ADVANCED CLASS PLAY “The Missing Witness”, a courtroom melodrama in three ac ts, was presented by the Advanced Class on December 16. The ac- tion of the entire play took place in a courtroom, depicting the trial of Helen Montgomery, a young musical comedy star, for the murder of Henry Kellog, late district attorney. The play had mystery, suspense, humor, and an authentic courtroom atmosphere. i | } Standing—E. Cook, T. Pederson, T. Sandvig, C. Hammerberg, E. Regan Sitting—A. Anderson, Miss O’Connor, Director; L. Johannsen RINGS IN THE SAWDUST The Mixed Chorus will present what promises to be a very en- tertaining operetta, ‘“‘Rings in the Sawdust’, on February 17 and 18. The plot centers about a circus owner, Toby, whose circus has a large mortgage which is at the point of being foreclosed. The operetta is under the direction of Miss O’Connor; Mr. Long is the dramatic coach.
