GRAIN JUDGING Grain judging is carried on under the supervision of Mr. Bridgford, who coaches a number of students each year in prepa- ration for the Red River Valley Winter Shows. The three boys who have been chosen as judges and the alternate will journey to Crook- ston on February 6 to represent our school in competition with other agricultural schools. K. Hanson, M. Stegner, Mr. Hemming, Coach STOCK JUDGING Each year a number of boys, interested in developing their ability.as judges of various types of livestock, try out for the stock judging team. From this group three judges and an alternate are chosen who will compete in the Red River Valley Winter Shows held at Crookston. The team this year is coached by Mr. Hemming.

THE HONOR ‘‘A’’ SOCIETY The purpose of the Honor “A” Society is to recognize agricul- tural attainment, especially leadership, in school and home com- munities and to promote scholarship on the campus. Members, who are chosen by the faculty, must be from the Senior and Ad- vanced Classes, must have an attitude rating of B or better, and a scholarship rating in the upper one-third of their class. Solberg YOUNG WOMEN’S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION Among the events and activities of the school year are those of a religious nature. These are carried on by the Religious Welfare Committee, a group made up of students and faculty. The most active organization is the Young Women’s Christian Association, whose members assume the responsibility for daily morning devo- tions and for weekly services on Sunday mornings.

Johnson RIFLE CLUB The rifle range in Senior Hall is the scene of much activity throughout the school year. Preliminary tests for marksmanship are given to discover the sharp shooters, who are selected to take part in the bi-weekly matches. Valuable training and sport are acquired from partici- pating in this activity. DEBATE AND DECLAMATION Activities which offer opportunities for the development of ability to speak effectively are debate and declamation. The debate teams, coached by Mr. Prickett, will debate with teams from the Agricultural Schools at St. Paul amd Crookston, and the declamation team, coached by Mr. Long will compete with the Brookings Agricultural School.
