Several freshmen have responded to the call for debaters. Although they will very likely fail to make the team this year, they will gain some valuable experience. Many others are taking an active part in the musical organizations in school. Others are members of the Rifle Club. Hero Maertens and Kathryn Kay represent the class on the Student Council. On December 16 the freshmen held a hard-time party in the Dining Hall, at which they demonstrated their ability as square dancers. Another social event of a similar nature is planned for the winter term. The Class of 1941 promises to be an active group who will make a decided contribution to the progress of the school within the next few years.

field, and began learning, under the tutelage of their coach, Mr. Edson, the rudiments of foot- ball. The goal toward which they were striving was developing a team which could defeat the juniors in the annual football classic, the freshman-junior football game. This they suc- ceeded in doing, on November 7, to the tune of 14-0. The team was piloted by its captain, Harold Drever, who called the signals, and who, with many of his team-mates, will undoubted- ly furnish good material for future Aggie football teams. At the close of the football season, the freshmen athletes turned their attention to basket- ball. A large number have reported for this sport as well. From this group the team which will represent the class in the class tournament will be selected. One freshman, Harold Drever, has been chosen to play on the squad. Not all of the efforts of the freshmen have been expanded in athletics. During the months of October and November four freshmen made an average sufficiently high to place their Back Row—H. Olson, M.
