There are also some juniors who have won a place on the basketball squad. They are Axel Borresen, Milton Nielsen and Ingvor Buhl. The class has great hopes for its Junior Basketball Team, which they hope will make a good showing in the class basketball tourna- ment which will be held in March. The team has had an opportunity to get in some practice for this event by playing preliminary games. In the realm of public speaking, the juniors are represented by Leonard Fossum, Lester Huebner, Gilbert Dehne and Howard Eide, who are members of the school debate squad. These boys are working hard in the hope that they will have a chance to represent the school in the interscholastic debates which are held during the second semester.

TRE FRESHMAN CLASS The Freshman Class is made up of a group of students who have taken an active part in the activities of the school. It is made up of approximately thirty girls and seventy boys, which makes it one of the largest groups enrolled as freshmen in the history of the school. Very soon after school began in the fall the freshmen called a meeting for the purpose of electing officers and the representatives on the various standing committees of the school. On the Social Committee the class is represented by Orin Toso and Beatrice Beninga; on the Religious Welfare Committee by Pearl Bosshardt and Harold Drever; and on the Athletic Committee by Mabel Monson and Hero Maertens. The freshmen lost no time in showing their determination to launch a successful career at West Central. An unusually large number of boys reported for practice on the football Berdeen Hagen, Treasurer; Kathryn Kay, Secretary; Almer Kruse, Vice President; Miss Pedersen, Mr. Edson, Class Advisers; Richard Engstrom, President.
