PROUDLY WE HAIL Toda) ' , after a dozen years of sacrificial labors, a man of unshaken faith and courage is bringing a vision into reality. The man: Dr. John Taylor Williams; the faith: that the -ision could become a realit y; the vision: that Princess Anne College could grow into a seat of learning with a range of services for the maximum benefit of students seeking to prepare themselves for constructive living in the important remaining years of the twentieth century. To keep his vision unclouded and steady, the man isualized harmonious physical surroundings of comfort and beauty as the right of college generations present and to come; for spacious ivy-covered build- ings are the temples of learning. More significantly, he dreamed of bringing together an assemblage of learned men and women — priests and priestesses of the tem- ples — to inspire and lead students at the newly called Maryland State College. The students of Maryland State College hail proudly the accomplishments born of this man ' s dream: Increasing opportunities for worthy and needy students to receive aid; fabled achievements in athletics and public relations; a brilliant faculty whose standards of scholarship are high; a campus whose beauty and conveniences increase steadily; and a true community of teachers and students in a bond of to- getherness found only in places where struggles have become victories. Gratitude is the companion of the pride in these accomplishments, and to ex- press it in humble measure, the students of Maryland State College dedicate their first yearbook to the man whose work, courage, and faith in a vision are bringing into realization the growth of their Alma Mater in strength and honor: PRESIDENT JOHN TAYLOR WILLIAMS
