HONORARY SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT DR. MAURICE S. BUCK RODGERS On September 21, 1972, the Class of 73 unanimously elected Dr. Maurice Buck Rodgers as our Honorary Class President. The reasons for our happy selection are best described in the words of an anonymous dental student. He defined a leader as, A man who . . . invites others to come along, instead of going for them or sending them on ahead . . . actively participates, instead of passively observing . . . defends his colleagues on all levels, instead of undermining them . . . shows by exam- ple, instead of describing in words . . . gives welcome advice, instead of unexpected criticism . . . has experienced defeat and is willing to admit it . . . initiates involvement, instead of cursing a standstill. Most of all, he is a warm human being, full of encouragement, devotion, and patience. Yes, these are the qualities that describe a leader, and it is that leader who we congratulate and thank today!

THE MIRROR Published by the Student Dental Association of The University of Maryland School of Dentistry Baltimore College of Dental Surgery Baltimore, Maryland Roy L. Eskow, Editor History of The Mirror The Mirror was initiated at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in the year 1901, under the editorship of Thomas J. Corbett. From that time, The Mirror was published yearly until 1922, when the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery amalgamated with the University of Maryland School of Den- tistry. Between 1922 and 1932, the annual was replaced by the yearbook of the University, The Terra Mariae. In 1933, by a vote of the Board of Editors and with approval of the staff advisor. Dr. Harry B. McCarthy, The Mirror was revived and has continued, as such, to the present.
