Dedicati IDE. WIILIBU1K O. IRaVMSIET Professor and Head Department of Restorative Dentistry The abilities of this knowledgeable man are as well known to the struggling freshman as they are to the graduating senior. Under Dr. Ramsey ' s capable leadership all students reap the benefits of a well-organ- ized, industrious, and dedicated Division of Prosthodontics. In addition, he has organized and made functional the newly created Department of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Ramsey ' s devotion to dentistry and, more importantly, to den- tal education has prompted us to dedicate this yearbook as an expression of our appreciation. We hope that the integrity and dedication of this man will serve as emulative qualities by which we may pattern our pro- fessional lives. -HI-

DIE,. DADE ADAM DEEMS In the death of Dr. Paul Adam Deems ' 28, the student body, the School, and the dental profession suffered the loss of a man who was exceptionally dedicated in all the facets of his very numerous profes- sional responsibilities. Born in Baltimore on September 16, 1900, Dr. Deems was educated in the public schools, graduating from City College in 1917. Having received the D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1928, he began in 1929 his first faculty affiliation that ended in 1947, when he resigned as Associate Professor in Dental Anatomy. In 1959 he rejoined the faculty as Instructor in Clinical Orthodontics. The Class of 1969 joins the members of 27 preceding classes in recogniz- ing the excellent contributions made by Dr. Deems both as an effective teacher and as an inspiring member of the profession. Dr. Deems held many offices, and the recording of these reflects the high esteem in which he was always held by his associates: President, Class of 1928; President, Gorgas Odontological Society; Deputy Coun- cilor, Psi Omega Fraternity; President, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Phi Chapter; President, Dental School Alumni Association; President, Balti- more City Dental Society; President, Washington-Baltimore Society of Orthodontists; President, Maryland Section of the American College of Dentists; Secretary-Treasurer, Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists; and Secretary, Maryland State Dental Association. Dr. Paul Deems merited high praise as a person and as a teacher. The members of the Class of 1969 desire to express their deeply felt appreciation for the fine honor of having been privileged to know Dr. Deems. ilY
