We are grateful to them all, for they have so earnestly tried to enable us to reach our goals as dentists. Occasionally and inexcusably, we tend to forget. We forget the person who has tried so hard and done so much to shape us as well as our futures so that we may better serve ourselves, our profession, and the public as well as our patients. As students, we seldom realize or attach proper importance where it is due. As graduating seniors, when the future is almost at hand and tangible, we remember and appreciate. J c onorctri f Senior ( tadd - redident WALTER L. OGGESEN After a half-century of service to the public and the profession as dentist and educator, Dr. Walter L. Oggesen is retiring with the Class of ' 64. He is retiring only from active professional participation, cer- tainly not from the minds and hearts of thousands of students he has helped in so many ways. Beneath his harsh exterior lies a person of truly noble and generous character; beneath his biting exterior lies an inherent warmth and fatherly interest in each student; beneath his ribald decorum lies a will- ingness to sacrifice time and effort so that a student may benefit. Gratefully, we say farewell to Dr. Walter L. Oggesen, our Honorary Senior Class President. -!6f I
