n e en lor L ic add CLASS OFFICERS Preside ! : Robert Parker V ce-Presulei! : John Wilhelm Secretary: Richard Downes Treasurer: Leo Rabago, Jr. Historian: Laddie Jones Serji eaiit at Arms: Jack A, Roth Sl ideiJt Senate Representatives: John Thomson Lawrence Halpert Nineteen hundred and sixty-two, the year man orbited in space, the year of the twist, and the year Gun Smoke became an hour show, was also the year of the realization of a goal that four years ago, for certain individuals, had seemed an eternity away — a date that held no meaning at all 10 or 20 years ago, but was to be an inevitable factor in the destiny of 84 men. Eighty-four students of the B.C.D.S. would walk through the portals of a large gray building in Baltimore for the last time as students and for the first time as Doctors of Dental Surgery. Even the Northern boys might feel like expressing themselves with a Rebel yell of accomplishment. Yes, the class with the first Sagrog Society and the original four fat fellows finally made it. What does it all mean? Each one of us now has his own professional life to live, his own decisions to make, and his own obligations to meet. Each of us now has to decide how he wants to practice dentistry, what he wants from the profession and what he is willing to give to it. We are not a unique class, neither are we any better or any worse than the previous 122 graduating classes of this school. We are only 84 men of approximately 3,000 men and women who will receive degrees from dental schools all over the country, but each of us is prepared to do his part to keep dentistry on the road to progress whether it be along the lines of further educational development, research, or the practice of sound, ethical dentistry. Perhaps if Horace Hayden and Chapin Harris could see this Class of ' 62 they might say to each other, I think we can rest at ease, for the profession is in good hands! ■{lOl-
