SPORTS This year the Student Senate Athletic Committee has enlarged its intramural program to include five sports. Softball and Bowling Leagues in addition to Golf, Ping-pong and Tennis Tournaments were offered. Trophies are to be awarded the respective winners at the year-ending Student Senate athletic banquet. At this writing, none of the winners have been decided, but with the coming of spring and the Softball League, Psi Omega ' s Spikes must be considered the team to beat on the diamond. This senior team has remained unbeaten since their freshman year and have completed a string of thirty-seven straight victories in marching to two consec- utive Professional School Softball Championships. Fast-balling Hill Wolf, an ex-Marine hurler, has yet to taste defeat while pacing the Spikes. The team, essentially the same throughout four years of play, includes the infield of Ed Spinelli at first, Bill Denison at second base, Bill Gannon, shortstop; Linn Tompkins at third and Bill Gaskill behind the plate. Bob Beckelheimer, John Rushton, Roger Zelles, Dick Georgiades and Man- ager Bo Menton handle the outfield chores. The Ping-pong and Tennis Tournaments are well under way and with enthusiasm running high any one of the numerous contenders could emerge victorious. The golf finals put Psi Omega ' s Cy Sokale against the Zips ' Ron Bauerle in the championship flight. With the long bowling season drawing rapidly to a close, the Psi Omega team should remain atop the league standings. However, the onrushing second place Alpha Omega five is still in contention and must be considered a threat. Thus far Ben LiPira of the Zip team heads the loop ' s rollers with a 110 average. Basketball enthusiasts headed by junior Bill O ' Connor entered a team in a city un- limited league. Playing under the appropriate name ol the Exposures, the bows Irom B.C.D.S. were in the running all the way and finished with a 7-4 mark. Ray Flanders was the top point-getter for the basketball-playing dentists and was ably assisted by O ' Connor, Tom Mcakem, Keith Lown, Dave McLane, John Raese and Bernie Morgan. {7b y
