'l'l-IE . THOROUGHBRED ll HE THOROUGHBRED depicts in words and pictures our life at the University of Louisville. With pride in the University Family, which consists of the administra- tion, faculty, students and the community, we have worked together to make the University of Louisville one of the leading universities in the south. The University, as it is today, is deserving of this revered place in our hearts due to its accomplishments which are well known throughout the nation. It is respected for its academic standards, famous for its athletic honors, and holds an enviable place among the professional schools in the nation. The students, however, have more than these things to remember about our University. Some of the less important events seem to acquire more importance as we think of finishing our college career. In future years, we will continue to appreciate the friends with whom we have shared Our college days. The numerous opportunities for student participation in the activities of the University have made our role in the University Family more meaningful. We will remember the thrill. of anticipation before that extra special dance, the greetings on Howdy Walk, the ovet-crowded open houses, the hoarse voices after the big games, and the all night gab sessions, not to mention the late hours of studying before the fatal exam week. Words and pictures cannot be expected to recall all the typical col- legiate activities or to recapture for us all the laughter and joys experienced individually during our years at the University of Louisville. Yet it is our wish that in years to come this book will help us to recall. the memorable days of the university life during the school year of 1951 and 1952.
