. opmme or 'I'HE . BASKETBALL SEASON The greatest of all basketball seasons at the University of Louisville began on December 1, 1951 When the Cardinals defeated Kentucky Wesleyan at the Armory and ended with a bid to participate in the N. I. T. in New York.

A SEEMING PARADOX is the cooperative competition manifested in many campus events. The partici- pants cooperate not only within their individual groups in the effort to win but also with their competitors to make the activities of the University a success. Some such events are Fryberger Sing, the Barbershop and Beautyshop Quartet Contest, the Ugliest Man and Woman Contest, the Booster Trophy Award, and All University Day. Sigmzz Kappa amt Lamha'a Chi Alphd placed hut among the rontemmt: in the Quartet Contett in Sprmg of 1951. Larry Whitehouxe, Pi depa Phi, end the Keith twim, Phyllis and Arlene, of Chi Omega were the proud recipient! of the Ugliejt Man and W 01mm trophy. The context we: spon- xored by Alpha Phi Omega Fmterm'ty and the proteed; were donated to the Student Chett Drive. Pammlt, pie-Jmeared latex, cotton candy, hdrheu, and novel hooths heralded the All University Day Carnival of 1951. Thi: day was :pomored hy the Univenity Student Council for the purpose of bringing all the Ichool: 0f the University together for a yearly celehmtt'mt. Chi Omega, for the Jeeond comecutive year, and the Eagle and Anchor Society won the Cardinal Booster Trophie: at the end of the 1951 Bathethall Seaton for heing the mott loyal hooxter: 0f the hathethall team.
