With the deepest appreciation and an immeasurable amount of gratitude, we dedicate the 1952 Thoroughbred to Hilda Threlkeld and Morton Walker. The students who have been at the University of Louis- ville during the past few years will long remember their friendly invitations to relax in those famous iited leather chairs for an afternoon chat, their Welcomed presence at the many student meetings though their schedules were already over-loaded for the day, their warm greetings at the many dances and social events during the year, but, most of all, the students will never forget their interest and understanding for each individual student who was a part of the University. . It is with sincere hope that the future years will find both Hilda Threlkeld and Morton Walker at the University of Louisville. H ilda Tbrelkeld Morton Walker Hilda Thtelkeld, Dean of Women, is admired by all the women students of the University for her active interest in promoting the education of women. Many of us have heard her favorite slogan, Remember, when you educate a woman, you also educate a family! Though she also has the responsibilities of being the Acting Head of the Department of Education and is active in several large national organizations, Dean Threlkeld has done more than her share for the University of Louisville. Dr. Hilda Threlkeld received her A.B. from Transylvania College, M.A. from the University of Kentucky, Ph.D. from Columbia University and LLD. from Transylvania College. Morton Walker left his duties as Dean of Men during this year to become Assistant to the President. David Lawrence, the present Dean of Men, has readily assumed the respon- sibilities which had long been a part of Mr. Walker's daily life. Morton Walker will long be remembered for his most pleasant personality, his interest in the students and his constant work to make the University of Louisville an even more desirable place for the students. The men stu- dents have many times been given this word of wisdom by Mr. Walker, Without work, there is no real successli' Mr. Walker received his AB. and MA. from the Uni- versity of Kentucky and has done graduate work at the University of California.

DR. PHILIP G. DAVIDSON During his first year as President of the University of Louis- ville, Dr. Philip G. Davidson won the hearts of the students, faculty and community with his friendly manner and his sin- cere interest in the University Family. Dr. Davidson left his position as Provost of Vanderbilt University to accept his present position. He has also been Dean of Graduate School and Senior College at Vanderbilt since 1942. Graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1922 with a BS. degree with honors, President Davidson went to the Uni- versity of Chicago where he received his MA. and Ph.D. He has taught in the Mississippi county high schools, University of Illinois, and Agnes Scott College.
