SERVICE Behind the military department heads are the staff officers who supply much of the energy, do the routine tasks, teach basic classes, and take care of all general work that characterizes the functioning of the department. To these men falls the year-long task of supervising drill, making clear the difference between left face, right face, and order arms; target shooting with the least danger of blowing off a stray head; and issuing uniforms nearest to the right size. Irom the time they first check out “monkey suits” as freshmen until their final spring inspection as sophomores, over 600 “basics” enrolled in Idaho's R.O.T.C. unit answer “Yes, Sir” during roll call. For the 113 advanced course students, students whose goal is a commission, there are tactical problems, mess management courses, and summer camp applications of “book larnin™ to be mas- tered. With present-day advanced students assured of a “position” in the world after gradua- tion, these candid pages of Idaho's milirary life are mainly devoted to them. Camp Murray's Co.
