PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE The first Gem of the Mountains that I ever saw was the issue of 1921, the spring after I joined the faculty of the University of Idaho. At that time there were less than a thousand students. This year we passed the three thousand mark. А span of nearly twenty years and a trebling in size often spells profound changes in the spirit and character of an institution. Perhaps the most significant trait of the University of Idaho has been the abiding nature through the years of what we call the Idaho Spirit. ' It is the spirit of kindliness and yet of candor, of faithfulness and yet of fun, of sentiment and yet of seriousness, Because this spirit has prevailed among her sons and daughters, the University of Idaho will continue year after year winning her way to fame. HARRISON C. DALE. Pres. Dale, J. F. Jenny: “Сар” Horton and John Banks dedicate Neale Stadium President Dale in his office
