WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES Each year the organization of Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges selects the most outstanding men and women on college campuses for recognition. Of the fourteen University of Hartford seniors chosen for membership in this national honor society for 1960 one is a fourth-year student at Hartford Art School, three attend Hartt College of Music, and ten are from Hillyer College. The graduates were elected on the basis of their character, personality, participation in college activities, leadership, and scholastic achievement. Through their present accomplish- ments these men and women have shown promise of future success. 93

SPORTS CAR CLUB Avid sports car fans have banded together this year to promote the growing interest in sports cars and to exchange ideas on the current problem of safe driving. Weekly meetings include discus- sions, tilms, speakers, and program planning. Among the club's special events this year were two driving rallies in the Connecticut area. STUDENT CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP Students of the University can complement their academic lives by ioining the religious organizations of the school. Inter-religious and social gatherings highlight the activities of the Student Christian Fel- lowship. This year a chapel service tor faculty, statt, and students was held for those who desired to participate in worship with the members of the organization. SPORTS BASEBALL TEAM In the 1959 baseball season the pitching quality presented itself as a pleasant surprise. Despite the improved pitching staff, the Hawks' loss in hitting power gave them a 5-11 record for the season. Catcher Bill Poutre won the Most Valuable Player Award taking second place in the hitting department with a .317 average, having the most runs batted in and the most hits. Bob Marianella paced the Hawks with a .383 average while Ray Ransom scored the most runs. Charlie Sidway with .242 and Ray Ransom with a .241 ranked third and fourth respectively. Ed Kaftanowicz with .235 rated fifth and Tom Greco with .218 sixth. The team had .902 field average and 3.81 earned run average.
