Meetings are open to students of any denomination. Social activities of the club include bowling, volleyball, and an annual picnic. PEP BAND The University of Hartford Pep Band showed outstanding progress this year under the directorship of Bill Gravitt, a senior at the Hartt College of Music. The members of the band play for their own pleasure and also to stimulate and promote school spirit. The band has added much color this year to home basketball games, pep rallies, and various convocations held in the school. The chapter meets once a month for a busi- ness meeting and usually invites a speaker. Other activities include spaghetti suppers and pizza parties. NEWMAN CLUB The Newman Club, a Catholic organization, promotes the spiritual, intellectual, Gnd social interests of the Catholic students of Hillyer College. The oldest organization of the College, it has developed and prospered under the co-operative efforts of its facultY advisor, Professor James Sullivan, and its spiritual advisor, the Reverend Thomas C- O'Neill, an assistant at St. Augustine's Church. In addition to their regular business meetings held every other Monday, the members participated in discussion periods OH religious Gnd social problems and listened to talks given by their Chaplain and Quesl speakers. Miss Theresa Dalka was sponsored as their candidate for the Miss HillYe'H Contest. For the first time the QroUP combined its resources with those of the Menorah Club and the Student Christian Fellowship in sponsoring informal social gatherin95- Plcllls have also been made to initiate retreats for men and women, and the club will Ogaln present its Annual Communion Breakfast in early May. -P t
