HARTT COLLEGE CHORUS The Hartt College Chorus is a selected group which meets twice a week, holds at least one annual concert, and performs for functions outside the school. The Chorus is open to students by audition only. The types of music which the Chorus presents include music for men's voices and for women's voices as well as for mixed chorus. HARTT STUDENT COUNCIL As the student government organization at Hartt, the Student Council regulates all social activities of the college, and works to improve student welfare. Members are also interested in the continuance of co-oper0Ti0n and good feeling among students, faculty, and administration. El ltl HARTT COLLEGE BAND The Hartt College Band is a concert group of symphonic proportions, in which the students are given the opportunity to play the best in concert band and wind literature. Performance under the direction of Mr. Israel Kopmar are given for scholar- ship concerts and benefits in the public schools as well as for ceremonial occa- sions ofthe University. HARTFORD ART SCHOOL STUDENT ALLIANCE The task of acting as liaison between the student body and the administra- tion at the Hartford Art School falls to the Student Alliance. This, however, is not the only function of the Alliance, composed of representatives of each class. Educational, social, and athletic activities comprise another part of the Alliance's undertakings. Once a month its members meet to provide for lectures, field trips such as museum visits, parties, dances, and a picnic to culminate the year's events. - - -- -. 5: .' During the first semester members took part in the Hartford Times Carol Sing, performed at the Christmas Convocation, and sponsored their first Miss Hillyer candidate, Susan Ebb. A television per- formance, a Spring concert, and other school and community events rounded out the chorus' schedule this year. HILLYER STUDENT COUNCIL The student governing body of Hillyer Col- lege is composed of elected delegates from each of the four classes. In addition to an interest in academic and social problems of the University, the Council supervises and co-ordin- ates social affairs. The accomplishments of this year's Council are many and varied. Recogni- tion of social fraternities and sororities was achieved, the time limit between student nom- inations and elections for office was extended, and a working co-operation with the Student Life and Interest Committee was established. With an eye to the future, rules were formulated for the co-operative functioning of the three student governing bodies on the new campus along with the formation of a University Student Association. Council members also participated in the annual National Student Association Con- ference held this year at Columbia University.
