The Engineers ' Commission is the governing body for the School of Engineering. It is responsible for the planning and direction — and success — of such annual events as the Engineer ' s Ball and the Engineer ' s Carnival. This commission also underwrites the Engineer ' s Snack Bar. The group is only three years old, but it has become one of the most active governing bodies on the campus. There are eight members on the commission; the Engineering School Officers, class officers and the President of Arts and Sciences, because many problems that the engineers face are shared by the College of Arts and Sciences. In the three years of its existence the Engineers ' Commission has done much to establish cooperation and understanding between faculty and students and to integrate the activities of the College of Engineering with those of the rest of the university. School spirit in the heart of a busy city and the co-ordination of the two campuses take most of the time of this energetic group. The commission now is tackling the problem of full use of the new Business Administration building and the problems of an old and far too crowded Student Union. The commission has sponsored a series of tea dances down-town and has arranged for the very successful Pep rallies and assemblies held on the Civic Center campus this year. The commission is composed of twenty members including the Pr esident of the College of Law, representatives from the Hotel and Restaurant Management school, the Library school, the Aeronautics school, the Architectural school and sundry representatives from Business Administration. President of this year ' s Commerce Commission is Ray Olson.

Ever wonder who decides that there ' ll be no food in the student lounge or who is to run the bakery in the Union? It is the student ' s Board of Governors of the Student Union that makes all decisions about the operation of the Unions and selects the administrative personnel who will run them. The problems of the great new University Park Campus Union rest with this board. It was their responsibility for establishing new and untried rules for the Union and adjusting and revising these rules to make the Union the smooth, efficiently run organization if is today. The Dean ' s Advisory Council tackles the problems that face both faculty and students. This group is composed of student leaders, the Chancellor, Dean of Students, Director of Student Activities and what other administrative or faculty leaders the Council wishes to invite. The Council meets in a strictly informal manner; no minutes are kept, no motions carried — in no way is free, frank discussion hindered. Problems are solved; lines of communication are opened. This unique experiment in student government and student-university cooperation is sponsored by Omicron Delta Kappa, and the student members are members of ODK plus those who hold positions of leadership and trust in student activities.
