r CHANCELLOR JACOBS A General, A Chancellor, a prize-winning design DU ' s Firjt Family The successful completion of Chancellor Albert C. Jacob ' s first year at DU was marked by an anniversary dinner on November 18, 1950. The banquet, held in DU ' s new Student Union, was attended by eminent leaders in education, government and business from all parts of the Rocky Mountain empire. National attention was focused on the University of Denver when the new Chancellor came to DU to begin his task of raising the University to academic leadership in the nation. Previously, at Columbia University, Chancellor Jacobs had been assistant to President Dwighl D. Eisenhower. The confidence the students place in their Chancellor is well justified. They look to him with pride and respect as he increases his efforts to make our University responsible for the guidance of the destinies of future leaders of our nation. Under the leadership of Chancellor Jacobs, the University of Denver has the greatest opportunity in its history to make its outstanding contributions to the welfare of mankind. BUILDING PROGRESS One important phase of our university ' s great post-war expansion can be seen in the fine, new buildings that have risen since the war. These buildings include the new Buzad Building, the new Student Union, the seven new apartment buildings and eleven new fraternity and sorority houses. New UPC Student Union.
