pn? 'til X 4 V -. . , .JYLL Dean of Women Gladys C. Bell had much to say about the social events of the year. Always cooperative, Dean Bell goes about her dual iob as supervisor of social activi- ties and head of women with business-like enthusiasm. In addition to being ex-officio member of many. organi- zations, Dean Bell aids the Mentors and A. W. S. in their efforts. Standing behind the students with watchful eyes and offering sugges- tions, the Administration was the hand on the wheel of student activities and studies throughout the school year. Presiding over all the University staff was the Chancellor, assisting him were the various deans, secretaries, book- keepers, and many other helpers. The friendly, cooperative spirit that was manifested by the administrative body as a whole was well received by the students, and their response to the rules and regulations set forth was, for the most part, gratifying. Thus, one could find these hard-working execu- tive members huddled together mak- ing decisions, and giving answers to student problems. Successfully completin his second year as our Chancellor, Caleb F. gates finds himself more firmly entrenched in the hearts of faculty and students alike. Blending his suave manner with an attitude of good fellowship, the Chancellor has caused his contagious smile to permeate the entire University and leave a closer-knit rela- tionship between faculty and students. . iq' I fi . - Dean of Men John E. Lawson was kept on the run with the numerous jobs that are his. Outside of being Dean of Men, Jack is Director of Admissions, a member of the Board of Governors, a member of Interschool Council, the Campus Commission, the Board of Publications, and man- ages to find time to instruct courses in political science.
