everybody's sayin' if music is love Elvis: The King who conquered the world with his pelvic bones Leon: The Master of Space and Time with his lovely Delta Lady Larry Coryell: flying high, solo, pyrotechnics of improvisation on jazz guitar Billy Joel: Long Island man - child, working class Piano Man Earth, Wind and Fire: shinin' star no matter who you are Norman Blake: back to the roots; folk, blues and Mississippi - two steppin' the people filled the stands and the' music played the band These were some of the acts that came to Dayton this past year. The Mini Concerts, spon- sored by the Student Association, booked different musical acts for the varied tastes of the students. The days of the minstrel in the gallery are gone. The high costs of promoting concerts limited the Student Association's ability to bring the monster groups to the University. But, they gave the more obscure musicians the chance to display their talents. Music is a lifesaver for the students to reach out and grab hold of when overwhelmed by academic concerns. Music is love. And love is better when it's shared. For those who share the love of music with others: it was a very good year. 28 Elvis - Norman Blake
