Development of Professional Ideals Meeting of Civil group Two national conferences mark year Highlighting the Centennial Year activities of the Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers were participation in two National Con- ferences, joint meeting with the local section ASCE, and several inspection trips. By promoting these contacts with practicing engineers and encouraging the development of professional ideals, the Chapter has carried on traditions initiated at its founding in 1926. This year the Chapter could boast of 1001, enrollment: that is, all senior, junior and sophomore Civil Engineering students at U. D. were members. Bro. George Spahn is faculty advisor and Mr. Iohn Puterbaugh, U. D. '37, is the contact member. Officers for the year were: Elmer Gooch, Charles Westeriield, and George Vance. Active Committee members included Iames Andrews, lerome Muth, Manville Rose, Augustine Runkel and Fred Wagner.

Anniversary Year for Pi Delta's Features dance and picnics Pi Delta Rho, the Electrical Engineering Society, celebrated its tenth anniversary during the past school year. The organization was formed in 1940 as a successor to the Illuminating Engineering Society. As in the past and in conformity With the original aims of the organization, Weekly meetings were held at which papers were presented and topics of academic interest Were discussed. ln gen- eral the subjects discussed concerned the generation and distribution ot power and related electrical topics. Field trips to local television and industrial plants were taken to familiarize the members with the practical side of electrical engineering. The officers for the year were David Gordon, president: and Thomas Hoefiel, secretary-treasurer. Faculty advisors for the seminars were Mr. Morgan and Mr. Dunn. 13 4 . The designs of the club are to foster an interest in the study of chemistry and to keep its members informed upon current advances in this field. Its meetings are taken up by movies, student papers, and addresses by prominent local chemists. The year's activities were closed by the Society's annual picnic. Many members of the Society are student affiliates of the American Chemical Society and during the year the club itself became a student chapter of this society. This year's officers included Harold Hormann, president: Merrill Luthman, vice-president: Francis Wehner, secretary: and Hilary Allemeier, treasurer. Iorge Nunez was Student Senate representative.
