Alumni Association COLLEGE OF MEDICINEeUNIVERSITY 0F CINCINNATI The assoriatinn includes in its membership, graduates of the Medical College of Ohio, The Miami Medical College, the Cincinnati College. of Medicine and Surgery and the Laura Memorial Medical College, all of these Culleges having been combined to complete the organization of the present Medical Department of the University. The membership now comprises about 3,000 graduates from the different colleges. The yearly meeting is held during commencement week and includes in its program dining in all the various branches of medicine. 0n the evening preceding the commencement. exercises a banquet is given in honor of the graduating class. The Daniel Drake Society tCincinnati Research SueietyJ The Daniel Drake Society is an organization composed of workers in the Medical and allied Sciences. and has for its. purpose the presentation and devel- opment of recent work in IIlCdiCille and bioiogy, by means of monthly lectures and papers. given before its members and those interested in the subjects under discussion. Most of the papers represent original research on the part of the members. The society originated as the HSociety for Medical Research in 1897. The original members were: 3. P. Cramer, President H. Rothenberg The society was organized similarly to the Research Club of London and the work of the society was intended to embrace the scientihe side of medicine as embodied in gross and microscopic anatomy and pathology, hacteriulogy. physiology, physics and biology. During the course uf a successful career the scope Of the society was widened and in order to express this changeethe representation of science rather than medicine abneethe name was changed in 1911 to the Cincinnati Research Society. During the war the society maintained its hne record but owing to a change in the nature of the material presented at the meetings, the purpose was again modified to embrace any subject of general medical interest, and 1he organization became known as the Daniel Drake. Society, in memory of the spirit of Daniel Drake in his relation to the development of medicine The membership now includes over two hundred names. representing most of the men actively engaged in medicine and allied sciences in Cincinnati. The meetings are held 1110111th in the amphitheatre 0f the Cincinnati General Hos- pital. The present officers are: D. E. Jackson. President. Albert P. Mathews, Vice-Prersident. C. A. Mills, Secretary-Treaaurer. Among the publications of the society is a volume of papers presented at the meetings. published in 1912 as the Nathaniel Pendleton Dandtige Volume.
