Senior Class History We are the Class of IQZI of the School of Nursing and Health. We entered upon history during one of the greatest periods of all time. We came in three groups, one in February 1918, another in june 1918, and another in October l918. So, like ancient Gaul we are divided into three parts. If time and place of birth influence growth and development. then truly ours should be a great career. Coming into the world of nursing in the year 1918, as the great war was drawing to a close, when the cry throughout the land was for nurses and more nurses. both graduates and students. we entered upon a profession glorious in its present fulfillment. Perhaps many Of l921 ChOSC nursing under the war stimulus and national need: others because they realized the unsurpassed values and opportunities offered to women by nursing education and others who will tell you, I have always wanted to be a nurse, without exactly knowing why. But whatever our motives, we soon found ourselves merged into one great group with a common purpose and a common under standing. In place of birth as well as time we were equally fortunate. How the very thought of being other than a child of our own beloved school is enough to chill the soul of any one of 1921. We have passed through with varying degrees of success, most of the epochs of our nursing school days. Even at this late period, with graduation close at hand, we remember in all humility that we. too, once more pink and were in a capless state. Neither have we forgotten our fear and anxiety and prayers offered individually and collectively in behalf of the cap. The cap came to most of our number at the end of the four months of pro- bation; it passed a few who were found wanting when measured by its purport. With the cap came new opportunities and new responsibilities. For two semesters we found ourselves beseiged by classes and teachers, and discovered that nursing education meant work of the head as well as the hands. Later we learned the mysteries of night duty, of the Admitting Pavilion, the Operating Room, Care and Feeding of Infants and still other procedures too numerous to include in a limited space. How well we have prohted by our unusual educational advantages, our professional trainings our school friendships and our play-times together. our future works shall decide. But of no attainment is 1921 pruuder than the success this year of the Journal Club. We are also proud of the fact that three of our number have been given Red Cross Scholar- ships and will take the eight months special course in Public Health Nursing. Two of mu- numher have been given appointments 0n the faculty vi the School of Nursing and Health. We stand now on the edge of our student nurse career. No stirring and spectacular events are found in this brief sketch. But if we have not as yet blazed the world we believe there are sparks burning quietly within Our midst which will kindle and spread a great light in many directions in the years to comefk 1'Etlil.l.u '5 Nutte'lrlm'l Haul mid.
