MERMEN STUMBLE OVER TOUGH SCHEDULE TAKE SECOND MO-VALLEY WATER CROWN The toughest schedule in the schoolis history proved the undoing of the Bearcats as they faltered to a 4-4 mark. Second ranked Indiana turned the trick twice and fourth rated Michigan and twelfth rated Southern Illinois each issued a single loss. For the iirst time in four years Cincy failed to place in the NCAA Meet. Sweeping first place in the Missouri Valley Conference helped smooth out the UC season, Phil Meng and Gerry Sapadin led in the sprints, and Lance Altenau held down the butteriiy. School marks were set by I on Heimann in the backstroke and Cleon Wingard in the distance free- style. Rudy Boerio, Bill Donohoo, Ed Beck, Bill Edwards and Tom Glueck added depth to the squad. set A . iff A ng-I 'gi' j.,fU 3., E if as ,Zi - Kr? N p Junior Tom Glueck psychs-up for his event.
