s 1, Captain Harold Schuck paces the harriers with a 20:45 performance CINCY'S DISTANCEMEN PLACE THIRD IN MVC The cross country team won five of six dual meets and captured a tie for third in the MVC to wind-up their fourth straight successful season. This admirable record, compiled under Dave Dunkelberger in his first year as head coach, was marred only a powerful Miami squad. Harold Schuck, setting the pace with 20:45 for the four- mile Burnett Woods layout, carried the team with able back-up running by Martin Perret and Charles Carr. A1 Ransick and John Wiley rounded out the five man hill and gully team. Closing the '63 season, the thinclads finished sixth in the All-Ohio Meet where they faced tough competition headed by Miami and B.G. CROSS COUNTRY TEAM-First Row: Martin Perret. This honor society serves the band by conducting various fund raising projects to buy band equipment and iinance social functions. Chartered in 1928, Kappa Kappa Psi extends member- ship to outstanding bandsmen to promote the existence and Welfare of university bands. Traditional activities for the men of KKP include construction of the Band Sponsor float and selection of the outstanding band freshman. MATMEN SPLIT ON SEASON SHAUT GOES UNDEFEATED The ref credits a two-point reversal to freshman Dan Woodrujf. Coach Glenn Sample,s pre-season analysis of the wres- tling outlook proved correct as the Bearcats slipped to a 5-5 mark. But not all was bad for the grapplers, as Frank Shaut, John Leane, and Dan Woodruff boasted winning margins against tough opposition. Captain Frank Shaut continued on his victory campaign by recording his second unblemished season with 14 Wins, running his college career to a 55-3 mark. In his final match Frank recaptured the 4-I Wrestling Championship by a decision over Mid-American Champ, Chuck Ronyetz. Equally ef- fective Were John Leane, who posted a 8-3 record in the heavyweight spot, and freshman Dan Woodruff in the 130- pound division. Also adding to the Bearcat strength were double letter winner Jeff Amey, a matman of the 167- pound class, and 157-pound Rick Fuller. Other depend- ables necessary for the matmenas success were Jim Black, Tom Kennedy, and Dave Buvinger. 'Hondo' Leane uses the guillotine method of pinning his foe. 130-pound Jim Carney signals victory after decisioning his foe
