Some people had a word for it: apathy. Mayibe it was just a re- channeling of interests, or another phase in the collegiate cycle. But whatever it was, it had an eject upon the student activity of the University during this school year. Of course, there were still those who got excited: freshmen caught up in the Univer- sity pace, but they soon learned. As usual, Homecoming was dampened by the weather. Religious Emphasis Week couldn't get 01? the ground, even with a challenging and questioning theme. It was argued that Kampus King wasn't worth the efort, but all the ejfort went into thearguing. A few got excited about campus elections-mostly the candidates. And then, hand in hand . . . came Spring and the NCAA championship. UC threw of its cloak of conservatism, and with spontaneous shouts of 'fWe're number one, the students paraded through the city in a demornstrationof enthusiasm. Although registration proceedures are constantly being re- vised for smoother operation, they have not elimi- nated the packets of multitudinous IBM cards that require ID numbers, addresses, class schedules, etc., nor have the long lines to the advisers, co- ordinators, packet checkers, and cashiers been done away With. While the upperclassmen register in the fall, the freshmen sit through endless convocations and confer with Well-meaning people who orientate them in all phases of university life. Registration confusion increases as co-ordinator checks cards. Hoping that their packets are in order, students stop at Pink Room. Lines, lines, lines 1 Finally . . . thetunavoiclable cashier. Convocations in Wilson Auditorium attempt to orientate the incoming students.
