Dr. Stewart distaste: Dr. Johnson and his day in his seminar. McMicken College of Arts and Sciences formed the nucleus out of which grew the University. Althuugh classes meet in nearly all campus buildings, must classruums and oHices are huused in new McMicken. built in 1950 to replace the old hall that had been standing for more than 50 years. The College aims tu instill her students with a liberal culture and to serve as preparation fm- graduate study, including law, medicine, teachingN and theology. Vv'ith emphasis um breadth of knowledge, the student must be able to make quick transitions from psychology to Chemistry, history to German drill between 50 minute lectures and afternoon labs.
