As a poor, innocent, little freshman you enter the university. You are bewildered and green. Then comes a helping hand from the Dean of Women and her assistants and aides. You have a conference with Dean Ingle and come away with surprisingly fewer problems pressing you. You meet your Junior Advisor, and she answers all sorts of ques- tions for you concerning ac tivities, scholarship, social life, etc. More than that you gain a valuable friendship with this girl and with other girls in your Junior Advisor group. Later you find that the dean ' s office has a part in your activities, too. And, if you haven ' t discovered it before your senior year, you will find out then that this office has been following your record all through school to enable it to aid you if and when you should ever need help, or to consult you when it needs your assistance. All in all — this staff and its aides are ready to help and guide you in your university career. PAGE 21 UNIVERSITY DEHR OF UJOfTIEn «kw. KATHERINE D. INGLE Dean of Women ' ' . ' X I

PAGE 20 UNIVERSITY DEOn OF (TIEn ROBERT W. BISHOP Acting Dean of Men You have often asked the university telephone operator to give you the Dean of Men ' s office. When you stop to think about your reasons for calling it, you are amazed; they are so varied. The place must be practically an information bureau. Well, no, not quite; but it does serve the men on this campus in a number of ways. Advising and adjust- ing freshmen to the university are not its only duties, although they are very important ones. Upperclassmen v ith a problem in mind also assemble here to get their share of advice on personal, financial and scholastic problems. Furthermore this office keeps records of, and approves of all fraternity affairs. Pledges ' grades are scrutinized to see that they meet academic requirements before initiation. What Is more, there Is a record of every man ' s activities on campus plus service records of those who were in the armed forces.
