His naive reply was It looks like easy jack to me. A man who approaches the bar in that frame of mind is not only a menace to society. but he will likely fall a prey to his own unworthy ambition. Large rewards, in terms of money. prestige, and power. have come to some members of the legal pro- fession. Dismal failure has come to others. There is probably no other occupation where success attends in such direct proportion to character. ability. and industry. A semi-scientific study has been made of the biographies of fifty presidents of the American Bar Association with a view of ascertaining what qualities led to their success. The study resulted in a rough finding' that character, industry, technical legal knowl- edge. and personal charm, in the descending order named. were the qualities most conducive to these specimens of American success. Let him who seeks easy jack Q? avoid the legal profession.
