The first building: was put up 011 the 01d MCMieken prop- erty 011 Clifton Avenue. h'IcMieken Hall in Burnet W'oods was- built in 1889; in 1896 Hanna Hall was added; 1900 saw the com- pletion of Cunningham Hall; and 1901 brought the Van Whrmer Library. In 1900 the Engineering Department was organized, and grew SD rapidly that another building was necessary; and in 1911 the College of Engineering was completed. The followingT year, 1912I the. Gymnasium was; opened, and the City Council authorized a bond issue for part of an athletic stadium. a woman's building, and a building for the. Department of Chemistry. The first is completed at the. present writing, and hopes; are heltl Out for occupation Of the latter two by the Cuming September. In 1915 it was decided that the present quarters of the Medical College, which has. occupied the 01d University Building 011 Clifton Avenue since 1896, were inadequate, and by the efforts of Dr. C. R. Holmes the necessary funds were raised, and ground has been broken, for the erection of a new building in the rear of the Cincinnati General Hospital. One more prospect remains. During 1915 a committee of alumni was appointed to draw up statements and plans for a dormitory, to be erected on the hill south of the gym. This was done and approved, and the alumni are at present actively engaged in raising funds for the erection of this IOHg-needed addition to the University. I Page seventeen J
