FOREWORD body of the University perhaps it might be welt to preface the mark with some explanation of what the Cincinnatian stands for IN submitting Votume XX of the Cincinnattan to the student in student tife and among student activities. As a college institution, the publication made its first appearance under the auspices of the Ctass of 1894 in its Junior year. amt has re- mained a Junior enterprise to the preSent time. With the University, the Cincinnattan has widened its scope from the N4-page votume of the Class of ,94 to the comprehensive editions of tate years. A University year book, it embodies what the description implies,- a full, impartial record of each and every phase of University life and Interests. Every aspect of undergraduate existence has its attottect ptace; the titerarp and scientific. in the records of special clubs and student publications; the athtetic. in football, hasebatt, track, swimming and hashethatt pages; the sociat. in the mention of dances, parties, gtee concerts and fraternity life. The purpose of the first thincinnattan was not primarily to serve undergraduate ends. but to express to the Senior Class of the year, a feeling of indebtedness on the part of their fettows for the legacy of a better Cincinnati. which each ctass has bequeathed to their succeswrs. To the Seniors of 1914 me would say, that we of the junior Class have endeavored to bind herein as many of the memories and as much of the spirit of their uAlma Mater as can he put within the leaves of a boots. We ask that they take it with them as their University reduced to portable dimensions. Whatever success may be ascribed to the under- taking shoutd he placed. where it belongs, to the credit of the staf and the studentphody for their interest and support.
