A vocalist provides students with an enioyable Sunday afternoon in one of the popular hootenannies. FOREWORD An idea is... AN IMAGE. Central State College is made up of ideas that are rapidly gain- ing in scope and perspective. Majors in 28 fields are offered in the academic curriculum and en- rollment has soared to an all-time high. Buildings and faculty are being increased to meet the de- mands of a dynamic student body. Changes are taking place before our eyes. Education is the spectrum through which our images appear. And the Bronze Book is the means by which we present this spectrum. We, the staff, have taken the ideas of the students cmd portrayed them, as they emerged, into their final form - an institution of higher learning with a vivid life of its own. We have attempted to paint a very real portrait, depicting the school, its character, and life as it was lived in T963-64 on the campus of our college. Thus, it is with pleasure that we bring into focus - CENTRAL STATE COLLEGE . . . AN IMAGE

Leda Cantrell Fred Drake Winifred Stayton ixiiw' 11,3 i wi , 6-Y, , V 'ii Me - . . . dedication coupled with human trust makes our world what it is today. Three lifetimes devoted to education with experiences in different areas-three persons who have made Central State College their academic home for a combined total of 80 years, becoming such an integral part of the school that it will never be the same without them . . . Mrs. Leda Cantrell began her long career in the business office at Central in 1939 after serving six years at NOJC. Bursar for the school, she is known and respected for her efficient work as well as her church and civic contributions. Mr. Fred Drake ioined the faculty in 1942, already a veteran school man. He had served as school superintendent in several state towns as well as assistant county superintendent. His activities in Kiwanis, American Legion and his church along with his history and government classes earned him wide recognition. Miss Winifred Stayton took her first degree at Central in 1926, then the MA from George Washington Univer- sity in 1931. She ioined the faculty here that same year, specializing in elementary education. Sponsor of Kappa Delta Pi, active in civic, religious and social organizations, Miss Stayton has never ceased in her academic pursuits through study and travel. These retiring faculty mem- bers-who gave so much to so many-more than merit the dedication of the 1964 Bronze Book.
