PUBLICATIONS FOCUS ON COLLEGE LIFE Vista editor Larry Snipes prepares entries for the OCPA contest while editor Yvonne Westbrook pauses to think about copy she is producing. .f 1 f-A - -QQ? ,ai Three of the 200 students who attended the annual yearbook workshop pause to look over some annuals from other schools. Even though Central State otters only a minor in iournal- ism, the school provides its students with exceptionally honored publications. The Bronze Book, the school annual, last year was awarded the Medalist Award and for two years in a row has earned an A 'rating. The semi-weekly paper, The Vista, was named the best collegiate paper by the Oklahoma Collegiate Press Assoc- iation. The paper also competes, and wins praise from, Oklahoma commercial semi-weeklies at the 'State Fair. Controlled almost completely by the students, the Central State publications reflect the campus and its stu- dents. The Vista has been doing this task torA60 years and the Bronze Book for more than 50 years. Yearbook advisor Mrs. Reba Collins and editor Russ Lackey go over a critique from a na- tional iudging service which announced that the 1963 Bronze Book had won top honors. ,4-Q4 I W lilllilllli' ll I ll lu ' ' if-.. i 1 - -1- .I .lm li 'iz i 1. i 4..giltiiiitilift.itlilllitlggl.lg3iitlllllill3liitiiiWimgilllliitiitreg.iilislHilillli.,,iiiiiiiiilVifiiliiiiiigiit i . .men it il i 'i it Witt it mg., ,ti I. , , . ..i. 1 , ,z CJ .-A..-,ir I

From the grandfather of all buildings, Olcl North Tower, pictured on the left, to the newest addition, the Administration building, pictured below, Central State has expanded its physical facilities to meet the needs of an ever growing studentbody. These buildings are the physical part of the campus. When an alumni thinks of his college life, usually the first picture coming to his mind is that of one of the buildings. As varied as the different students, Central's build- ings span seven decades of architecture. The design of five new structures points the way toward a prosperous, modern Central State College. The newest building on campus, the Administration building, houses the Central State policy makers. 3 TV .- 325-5 'in , 1. . . , T . .. ,F -- c 1 -I f ggqisi-5 A- i!'.,ja:f3fv.-Q -T ,. - 3' ,,,..f4- ,. -.- .gg ,'T .wh .v-Ta, -.T-,515 'T . 4 ,- 4- i ,K V, jf P .,.!' FX as l t l it K I 1 XQ c, t en C . l . , li i College classes sometimes meet in strange locations. tl Classes at Central State are no exception. , Their meeting places range from a football field where the marching band practices to the Gulf of Mexico where U I S science students go to find live specimens to study in place ofthe text book examples. No matter where the class is held or under what I N circumstances, it is held forthe student to learn. At Central class space is so important that when a i new building is constructed to house a department, the old building is never torn down. lt is always renovated to give E I more space to other departments and meet the growing , needs. ll l X. l Drum maior Gary Green leads the maneuvers that the Broncho band learned during their marching lab. Photography classes split their time between being in the classroom, being in t the lab, and being on campus shooting pictures. Sometimes, the word rush is an understatement when the student has to travel from one side ofthe campus to the other. 9 .gt
