1967 Scroll reco nizes Dr. E. C. Polk Educators should be chosen not merely for their special qualifications, but more for their personality and their character, because we teach more by what we are than by what we teach. . Will Durant Dr. E. C. Polk Gentleman, scholar, friend. These are but a few of many at- tributes of one member of SCA,s English department who enjoys the respect and esteem of both col- leagues and students - Dr. E. C. Polk. Hailing from the Lone Star State, Dr. Polk received his bach- elorls and master's degrees from Hardin-Simons College, and doc- torate from Texas Tech. Before coming to our campus in 1962, Dr. Polk taught at Abilene High School, Texas Tech, and TCU. Dr. Polk is a member of the Official Board of the First Metho- dist Church of Conway, Phi Delta Kappa, NEA, and SCMLA. A former sponsor of Alpha Chi, he is now sponsor of Pi Kappa Alpha frater- nity, and member of faculty committees. For his inspiration to students in kindling their imagination and enlarging their vision, and for ser- vice to the College, we dedicate the 1967 Scroll to Dr. E. C. Polk.
