M artha Christe nsen Botany Martha Christensen is an Associate Professor in Botany. Her specialty is mycology, the study of fungi. I enjoy having students with the ranching and farming backrou nd. Then they have the practical side to botany. They have seen many of the things we talk about. They know from experience the effects of herbicides and plant hormones. I think botany and biology need to be related to the real world instead of always being under the microscope. It destresses me to find graduate students who donit know the common trees. It is absolutely essential to relate our biological and botanical knowledge to the earthf,

Russell Edmunds History Russell Edmunds is an Assistant Professor of history. His specialty is theAmerican Indian. Here he speaks about Wyoming and UW. The University of Wyoming is small enough so that you really get to know most of your students, but itis large enough to have many of the advantages of a big university. I enjoy the people here. Most ofthe students are down to earthf, Teaching and research are both important I enjoy teaching and I enjoy being in front of people. This is a Way of Hhookingn people into your subject. I use my survey class to make converts for the subject of American Indians. I am also interested in research because it enhances my ability as a teacher because I find so many interesting things which make the lectures betterf,

Anton Munari Civil Engineering Anton Munari teaches in the Civil Engin- eering Department. About teaching he said, 'CI love teaching very much, and Iyve always been teaching Freshmen. Because we have a lecture-lab type thing We get to know stu- dents very Well. I suppose if I werenit able to get to them that closely I wouldnit enjoy teaching as much as I do. UI would say that my biggest complaint about the University of Wyoming is that our salaries as far as people without PhD's is not sufficient. I only have a masters degree and have had one since 1958 and been on the faculty for seventeen years. Right now many of our starting people with B.S. degrees within six months or a year make the same salary I do after seventeen yearsf' 24
