E DEDICATE THIS 1951 WYO to the students of the University . . . the young people who must give up security as an ideal. In this atomic age when the most distant points on the earth are but a few hours away, it becomes quite evident that we live in a wonderful but dangerous era. It is a time when the wonders of science seem as amazing as the fantastic happenings in the most far-fetched comic-strip. It is a time when men must worry about flying saucers and atomic radiation. It is a time when men must be strong, looking forward and never back. We dedicate this book to those who will strive for New Frontiers . , . For that distant hope when all men will be brothers and all nations will be united. » OREWORD n this volume we trust you will find, Many pictures which bring back to mind The Collegiate joys And the girls and the boys. And professors, and deans, and their kin We have tried to appease every whim. We have pictures of Suzy and Jim, Of erudite scholars. And Magnolia Maulers, And 6f Co-Eds, both chubby and slim. Yet the Editor ' s face shows dejection. When he looks at this book of perfection, For it ' s easy to see. That it may never be, A Book-of-the-Month club selection. . jg::- % r -f f — M

vXc oday, frontiers are more challeng- ing than those of the Overland Trail, It is no longer a challenge of nature, but more a challenge of the forces of nature that are working for us. Pioneering new frontiers at the University of Wyoming is President G. D. Humphrey. One of the outstanding accomplishments President Humphrey has done since he came to the University has been to help extend all University services to different parts of the state. This has been achieved through broadening and developing com- munity services, correspondence courses, and general extension. He also has great interest in increased co- operation with towns where University Centers are located, the helping and de- velopment of Casper Junior College, in- tensification of work at the University farms in eight parts of the state. President Humphrey has helped further education in the fields of veterinary medicine and dentistry in eleven of the western states, and has inaugurated education, business, and resources research, which include ex- periments in atomic energy. President Humphrey looks on as Governor Crane lays corner stone at New Education Building.
