DEPARTMENT HEADS Mr. J. R. MacNeel: The Department of Guidance, aside from continuing the present offerings, is inter- ested primarily in development in the field of special education and care of crippled children. It is hoped that training of elementary, secondary, and college counselors will be enlarged. Mr. O. A. Beath: We want to give students a bet- ter basic knowledge of rocks and derived soil of the state in order to head off erosion and depletion of the soil. In the future, we also intend to have a place to exhibit all poisonous plants so that controls can be made to curb these plants. Mr. W. R. Biggs: The University of Wyoming needs a twice-weekly paper. A Director of Publications should be hired as a full-time staff member and should be in charge of all campus publications. We need a more extensive training program in radio. Mr. Eric J. Lindahl: The department needs more equipment to work with, and a more experienced and larger staff. We are advancing in many stages. It is hoped to develop a graduate program. R. D. Watkins Men ' s Physical Ed. Miss E. J. McKittrick Home Economics L. R. Kilzer Secondary Education Miss E. J. McKittrick was unable to be interview ed as to how her department plans expansion and de- velopment in future years. Mr. R. D. Watkins: We want to develop a com- plete course in Recreation. There is a great demand for Recreational supervisors in the large cities. This program would include instruction in dance, festi- val, sport leagues, and aquatics. A. E. Bowman Agronomy Extension Seri ' ice 26 Mr. L. R. Kilzer: The internship of teachers is the principle goal of this department. We want to put them on the firing line and see how they react under authentic teaching conditions. We want to use a five year training program, instead of just four. Mr. A. E. Bowman: One of the main objectives of this office is to carry to the rural people the latest information on caring for their crops and animals. Mr. V. O. Long: At this time, we have outs tanding laboratory facilities for a school of this size, and we will take a back seat to no one. C. A. Cinnamon Physics DEPARTMENT HEADS Mr. Carl A. Cinnamon: As in the past, expansion of the physics department will depend upon devel- opments in the general field of physics. Before the war we had a staff of two; now we have nine full- time instructors. The impacts of atomic energy will be noted in an increased demand for instruction in the fields of radio activity and nuclear physics. Mr. W. E. Daniels: The Department of Accounting anticipates greater interest and increased student en- rollment in accounting courses and in federal taxa- tion. Plans are formulated for additional course offerings at the graduate level. Mr. A. J. McGaw: The Civil Engineering depart- ment has found jobs for all its graduates for the past twenty years. In the future, we will continue to do the same. We don ' t want to graduate anyone we can ' t find a job for. Mr. Hugh McFadden: In the future, we will con- tinue a program of strong under-graduate training and will offer a sound graduate program for the Masters degree.
