% d Main, which once housed the entire University of Wyoming, remains the principal building on the campus. In it are the many adminis- trative offices of the President, the Deans, the Board of Trustees, and all the other people in high places who help rule this Kingdom of 144 acres. University Hall, or Old Main, as it is familiarly known on the campus, was completed in 1887 and extensively remodeled in 1949. All the old interior was taken out and replaced by new fixtures, such as masonry walls, steel windows with plate glass, and concrete stairways. The old auditorium was taken out and made into office suites for the administra- tive staffs of Personnel, Adult Education, Veterans ' Relations, Student Employment, and Property. The remodeling of Old Main was only a small portion of the $7,500,000 building program which is making the University of Wyoming campus one of the finest in the Nation. 8

yoming Hall represents a new frontier in housing conditions at the University of Wyoming. The huge building houses about 400 single men in a modern, hotel atmosphere. The double rooms are done in eight pastel shades and the beds are prob- ably softer than those the men sleep in at home. There is a large lounge enclosed in thermopane glass, and the border around the floor has the insignia of various frats inlaid in linoleum. The spacious building was completed just after fall quarter began at a cost of $980,000. 10
