HOMECOMING 1959 Homecoming, 1959, was a dismal affair. On Friday night the skits were as lively as usual, but a cold rain which had made preparations diffi- cult throughout the week continued to fall. The bonfire was washed out, and everyone went to bed with misgivings about Saturday's activities. On Saturday morning small groups gathered at the sorority and fraternity houses, waiting to hear if they should go ahead with their house decorations and floats. Shortly word was receiv- ed that there would be no parade, no house iudging, and no football game. While many alums gathered at the Union for 10 the annual alumni banquet many others gather- ed at their fraternity and sorority houses for their luncheons. For once everyone could just sit around and talk without worrying about getting to the game on time. The dance was held in the Union Commons. The largest crowd ever in attendance at the Homecoming dance witnessed the crowning of Queen Carol l'Bugsy Harada and King Charles Chuck Coulthardt. Everyone who was in Whitewater for Home- coming 1959 will remember it always, and those coming up in future years will be remind- ed of the Homecoming that was rained out.
