The student who enters the Union today finds the life of the campus reflected in all of its varied facets. In the lobby a show case advertises books, and posters announce a multitude of com- ing events - lectures and dances, conferences and parties. From the Snack Bar and the Com- mons the hum of voices announces good food and conversation. Students cluster at the Union desk with inquiries about the where and the when of things, or whisk up and down the stair- ways - to the game room or the book store, to a meeting or a television program. The Union has come into its own as a campus center. The first lighting of the fireplace . . .

Whether you live at Lucy Baker or Salisbury Hall, you will eat aT The Union. What books do you need? We all get that wonderful natural look on our ID card pictures. The largest freshman class in history entered Whitewater State College last fall - nearly 550 freshmen! The bewilderment of entering college life was eased during Freshman Orientation Week by student and faculty counselors, who acquainted the freshmen with the campus, helped them reg- ister, and provided a social program. This guid- ance program was carried on throughout the year. And finally The books .....
