FACULTY HISTORY • SOCIAL SCIENCE • FINE ARTS Miss Wail©, Miss Monger and Miss Clark keep the students informed as to what has happened in the past and what effect it has on the future. Miss Waite specializes in Roman and Greek history. Miss Clark in Far Eastern relations and Miss Monger is on the faculty of the McCaskill Junior High school. Miss Clark is also chairman of the History Department. The opera holds great interest for Miss Flogstad who teaches mathematics. Another teacher of mathematics is Mr. Smith who often recalls the days when he sang in the quartet. He has been on the faculty since the founding of this school. In the Social Science group. Dr. Longhorn, replacing Mr. Pitkin this year who is on leave, is instructor in American History. Dr. J. W. McKee is an authority on European History. Economics and Sociology are imparted to the students by Dr. Louis Carey who also has 121 hours of history to his credit. From California we have Dr. Ralph A. Norem. instructor in political science and adviser of the College International Relations Club. Our Foreign Language department is well-managed and filled by three women of the faculty: Mrs. Bessie Benton, German; Dr. Loth, German and Latin; and Miss Grace Barney, French. Twenty-On

FACULTY EDUCATION As Doan of Mon, Dr. Loop has much to do with solving school problems. His education courses are a boon to many who intend to toach. One cannot praise too highly the good advice which Miss Teerink offers in hor position as teacher and supervisor of student teachers. Prof. Vernon E. Van Patter is principal of the training department in the McCaskill school and is head of the Placement Bureau, set up to find jobs for graduates of this school intending to teach. Both Miss Carsley and Miss Cams are especially concerned with the Rural Department. Their outside interests are largely connected with radio programs. Miss Barbour looks at education from the Kindergarten-Primary standpoint. She is an extensive traveler. Mr. Almy looks at the same subject from the Grammar-Junior-High angle and Mr. Williams' interest lies in the psychology of education and he also finds time to supervise student teachers. Children s literature and amusements are the main interests of Miss Barse, co-instructor in the Kindergarten-Primary Department. Twenty

FACULTY FINE ARTS ATHLETICS Mr. Robert W. Young organized, for the first time hero in many years, a Men's Glee Club and Men's Quartet who have ably represented Superior State in local music circles. Miss Irene Curtis, able director of the Girls' Glee Clubs and the seventy-five members of the All-School Concert Chorus, offers courses in music theory, etc. Edward G. Ted Whereatt is well-known as Superior State's versatile athletic director. His teams have spread his name far and wide. Because of his unassuming manner and pleasing personality he has become endeared to all who know him. Directing the fine College orchestra, band, string ensemble and other instrumental groups of the college keeps Prof. William Schliep very busy throughout the school year. His organizations have made several appearances on the radio and have taken tours to neighboring Wisconsin communities. A new type of interest is aroused by the courses taught by Prof. V. E. Braman, Industrial Arts instructor. Here those mechanically inclined find expression for their individual tastes in creative work of surpassing excellence. Well-versed in Oriental culture and art is Miss Jane Rehnstrand, director of the Art Department of the College. In her teaching and work she carries out her motto: Harmony in all things. Tw ntyTwo
