ut 1 Tluwfa CSC has had the privilege of having Mr. Schmeeckle as a member of its faculty for the past thirty-six years. The conservation department, the first of its kind in the United States, was established by him in 1945. Through his efforts and leadership it has gained a nationwide reputation. Besides his pioneering in conservation education, his services to the school have been many and varied. Landscaping of the college campus and providing for college transportation via bus and station wagon are among his contributions to CSC. He is a past advisor to Alpha Kappa Lambda, the conservation fraternity and a past member of the college athletic committee. Mr. Schmeeckle's services do not end with the boundaries of the campus. He is well known for his work with the Stevens Point Lions Club, and the Isaac Walton League. He is a charter member of the National Conservation Education Association and is active in several state and national committees on conservation education. Realizing his great contributions to furthering the vital field of conservation, Mr. Schmeeckle has been honored by the National Association of Conservation Departments and the state Isaac Walton League. On March second of this year, he was presented the Conservation Education Award by the North American Wildlife Society. To you, Mr. Schmeeckle, we extend our sincere thanks for your leadership, your friendship, and your many contributions to our college, our city, and the field of conservation. And may you take with you many fond memories of CSC and our best wishes for a very happy future.
